The Governor conferrs upon every District Magistrate the following powers and impose duties to ensure that the provisions of the Act are properly carried out: the DM will make continuous efforts to identify, release, rehabilitate, take cognizance of the offence, ensure security of the freed bonded labour and his family, take action against those who obstruct, subvert or frustrate efforts of rehabilitation of bonded labourers, delegate powers to the SDM.
