Supporting Small Tea Growers

[Sustainable Livelihoods - Activity Reports]

Supporting Small Tea Growers CEC has been supporting small tea growers in India, through training and hand-holding, in producing ethical and sustainable tea. On 5 June 2024, we marked World Environment Day with an impactful tree plantation drive at three Small Tea producing enterprises in Assam: Rwdwmsha TPC, Swmkhwr Valley TPC, and Rwdwmkhang TPC. Small Tea Growers (STG) and our team, together planted cash crops like betel nut and coconut. These crops not only enhance greenery but also play a crucial role in supporting farmers by providing an additional source of income. By diversifying crops, farmers can achieve a more sustainable and resilient way of living, ensuring financial stability and promoting ecological balance. Through the drive, around 100 saplings were planted, marking a significant step towards a greener and more sustainable future.
