The images are of International Tea Day celebrations by societies of small tea growers and Tea workers in different locations. This year, during 2017, the tea workers assemble at Chuapada Tea Garden, Alipurduar, with around 2000 tea workers to celebrate the 13th International Tea Day. The event primarily focus on the "Demand for ‘Minimum Wages’ based on norms set by the 15th Indian Labour Consultation", Implementation of Plantation Labour Act, particularly Housing and land rights as well as Action against Import Tariff Reduction on Tea as stated in the AIFTA". Apart from adresses by worker leaders, the celebration include cultural programmes by adivasi and Nepalese communities. Here are a few images from ITD 2017.
