The West Bengal Government is starting a pension plan for tea garden workers. The pension plan would be for three categories of workers - for those who have crossed 60 years of age and have retired, for widows of workers, and for the differently abled. After the Khadya Sathi Scheme, which entails rice and wheat at 47 paise per kg for tea garden workers and their families, this pension plan would further help to further alleviate the problems of tea garden workers.
