CEC Seeks Candidates for the Post of District Coordinator and Production Merchandiser

 

Background Note:

CEC’s program- “Building Sustainable Rural Women Entrepreneurs in Handloom Value Chain” is being implemented in Kamrup Rural & Goalpara district of Assam, with the objective to empower an estimated 1,000 Rural women entrepreneurs (RWE) in Handloom Value Chain by:

  • Developing self-reliance and capacity to manage & run sustainable handloom business through tailored support initiatives at all levels, with enhanced access to adaptive innovations, digital solutions and financial linkages,
  • Building visibility of the RWEs by facilitating marketing and branding support through forward and backward linkages,
  • Enabling ecosystem for women entrepreneurs to thrive through active partnership with government as well as private institutions, based on models demonstrating growth and sustainability of RWEs.

Towards implementation of this Project, we invite applications from the interested candidates for the position of District Coordinator and Production Merchandiser.

  1.  DISTRICT COORDINATOR

Location: Goalpara, Assam

Job Responsibilities:

The District Coordinators will be based in the project districts. The responsibilities would involve:

  1. Identify villages/ clusters and RWEs, conduct baseline survey, and share data as per the required format/systems.
  2. Assist in selection of the RWEs for the project interventions.
  3. Visit and engage with RWEs and community members on a regular basis, develop enduring relationship with them and ensure that the project activities are on track.
  4. Empower RWE by making individual visits to their households, and conducting group meetings.
  5. Facilitate, monitor and follow up outcomes of production development programs, Entrepreneurial development programs and other capacity building sessions for RWEs at village level.
  6. Liaise and manage relationships with various stakeholders at village and district level, and organize and arrange for meetings.
  7. Assist in updating training timelines and calendar, in collaboration with assistant program manager.
  8. Take all steps to help RWEs to- set up collectives, access credit linkages, set up yarn banks, gain exposure visits, and network/converge with stakeholders as well as other RWEs.
  9. Take all steps to identify locations and required infrastructure for organizing meetings/training sessions, and establishing Handloom Resource Centre, negotiating with suppliers/vendors, and help with its operation readiness.
  10. Supervise and coordinate project activities for RWEs, in collaboration with project team.

Required Qualities, Competencies, and Qualifications:

  • Ambitious and hard-working professional with at least 3 years of experience in the implementation of women-oriented livelihood/ entrepreneurship specific programmes.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Rural Management/Livelihoods/Social Entrepreneurship/Gender & Development Studies from reputed institution.
  • Experience of working in close collaboration with government systems.
  • The candidate must have basic knowledge about the handloom sector, and good understanding of gender & livelihood issues in general. 
  • Willingness to be based in Assam and travel extensively within the state.
  • The candidate must have working knowledge of Assamese and good knowledge of written and spoken English.
  • The candidate must have basic computer skills such as Excel and Word.

The initial contract will be for one year, including six months of probation and will be subject to renewal based on mutual agreement.

  1. PRODUCTION MERCHANDISER

Location: Assam

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Design product range for weavers as per market needs.
  2. Identification of potential markets, marketing channels and consumer base in a dynamic manner.
  3. Facilitate and accompany weavers in gaining market exposure (such as participation in exhibitions, trade fairs, buyer-seller meet etc.)
  4. Linking the weavers with the conscious consumers.
  5. Assist Domain expert to build strategies and create systems to streamline product diversification, standardization, finishing, packaging, labelling, transportation, and marketing strategy.
  6. Closely guide and supervise RWE collectives and field production team.
  7. Develop and sustain long-lasting relationships with customers.
  8. Assist in brand building and promotion for RWEs.
  9. Maintain accurate record of all Production-sales, scheduled customer appointments, and customer complaints.
  10. Support domain expert to assess and communicate possible product improvements and changes to ensure that products meet current market needs.
  11. Assist in planning and implement logistical strategy, ensuring targets are met.
  12. Assist in overseeing product and raw material sourcing, storage, handling & supply.
  13. Assist in working on forecasts and inventories, keeping an accurate record of the process and analyzing performance.
  14. Assist in managing the costs involved while maintaining quality.

 

Required Qualities, Competencies and Qualifications:

  • Ambitious and hard-working professional with at least three to four years of experience in Handloom product designing and marketing.
  • Professional Degree in textile/product designing from reputed Institute like NIFT, NID or similar Institutions.
  • The candidate must have good knowledge about the Handloom sector, including production & marketing, and entrepreneurship issues in general.
  • The candidate must have knowledge of modern marketing techniques.
  • Candidate must have high-level communication and networking skills, good project management skills and excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure.
