In the Civil Appeal 213 OF 2013 State of Punjab & Ors. Versus Jagjit Singh & Ors.the Supreme Court has held that if the work performed is the same similar wages have to be paid at the lowest scale of the regular staff. There cannot be any discrimination between temporary/casual workers merely on the basis of length of service.
