Bonded labour, in its worst form, perpetuates an exploitative employer-employee relationship rooted in debt and intergenerational bondage. However, as societal and economic landscapes evolve, so do the forms of bondage, demanding new approaches to combating exploitation. Forced labour, an extension of bonded labour, further exacerbates the vulnerability of workers, depriving them of their fundamental labour rights.

In response to these challenges, CEC is actively engaged in initiatives aimed at reducing poverty and vulnerability among brick kiln workers. Our efforts encompass facilitating access to entitlements, improving working conditions, releasing workers from extreme bondage, and empowering them through organization and legal assistance.

Operating in the brick kilns in Mathura district of Uttar Pradesh and neighbouring villages, CEC is currently implementing Child Health and Nutrition Centres (CHNCs) and comprehensive awareness programs. Our goal is to improve access to healthcare, nutrition, education, and sanitation services for these families. By engaging stakeholders and advocating for sustainable practices, we aim to establish a replicable model ensuring the well-being of migrant families at brick sites.
