As municipal and sanitation workers went on strike demanding regular salaries and payment of arrears, the Delhi High Court on Wednesday brought in the "Swachh Bharat" element and directed the police to ensure that there was no hindrance to garbage removal in the Capital by the three municipal corporations. A Division Bench of the court issued notices to the Union Ministry of Urban Development, Delhi government and the three corporations of Delhi, seeking their stand on a public interest writ petition claiming that the authorities concerned were not paying salaries and arrears for several years to the municipal workers.
