Trade union body says labour rights violated at Wistron facility; seeks fair probe

Labour federation All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC) has said rights of workforce was violated at the Wistron facility in Narasapura near Bengaluru, where employees went on rampage destroying the assembly unit that makes iPhones and other products. AITUC Bengaluru president M Deepak said the Taiwanese manufacturer had disproportionately hired a high number of contract workers against the common principle to employ permanent workers for work of perennial nature. ?Payment of wages was an area of concern for all workers. Delayed payments and illegal deduction of wages were the order of the day in the factory,? AITUC said in a press release, on Wednesday.
