About CEC

The Centre for Education and Communication (CEC) is a labour resource organisation committed to building a just, inclusive, and sustainable world of work. For over four decades, we have worked to strengthen the voice and agency of informal workers and small producers — across sectors such as brick kilns, tea, handloom, garments, gig work, care work, domestic work, home-based work and digital labour.

We work through capacity building, research, community engagement, and collaborative partnerships — with a focus on gender justice, decent work, and promoting inclusive and participatory development through community engagement

About the Role

We are hiring a Programme Associate to support documentation, reporting, coordination, and research across our ongoing initiatives. The role is ideal for someone with a strong grounding in writing and research, and a deep interest in labour rights, gender, sustainability or social protection in the informal economy.

• Draft and edit high-quality narrative reports for internal and external stakeholders

• Maintain consistency in project records and timelines

• Curate outcome stories, field insights, and case studies

  •  Research & Knowledge Support

• Assist in qualitative and quantitative research, including literature reviews and interviews

• Support knowledge product development (policy briefs, presentations, field notes, blogs)

• Contribute to digital platforms such as the Digital Labour Archive and CEC’s social media handles (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube) for knowledge sharing and outreach.

  • Coordination & Communication

• Liaise between field teams, consultants, and external stakeholders

• Support the planning and facilitation of trainings, meetings, and learning events

• Track deliverables, timelines, and follow-ups with accountability

• Excellent writing and editing skills (English essential; Hindi desirable)

• Familiarity with issues related to labour, gender, public health, livelihoods, migration, labour codes, just transition and/or informal work
