In September last year, as central trade unions across the political spectrum went on strike demanding that the government implement 12 points - including hike in minimum wages to Rs 15,000 per month, a minimum pension for workers of Rs 3,000 per month, and registration of unions 45 days after the application is received - the RSS-backed Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh decided not to join ranks with other unions. BMS was in favour of giving the government some time to implement proposed reforms.
