Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh today said apart from exploring the possibility of growing tea in the non-traditional areas, there was a need to expand, improve and rejuvenate the existing tea plantations in Kangra so as to make them profitable for owners. This was stated by Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh while presiding over the State Tea Development Board Meeting held here today. "There there was a need to expand the tea cultivation area as has been observed that the tea gardens of Kangra were physically shrinking and diversions have paved the way for dwelling units," he said. He said the tea gardens will no longer be profitable ventures, if these are not rejuvenated and new plantations made.
