A recent study inquiry with persons rescued from bonded labour in four districts in the State has found that various social entitlements, such as community certificates, ration cards, voter ID or health insurance, have not reached them yet. The findings of the study, by Loyola College, on the current socio-economic conditions of 208 persons, who were rescued in Kancheepuram, Tiruvallur, Tiruvannamalai and Vellore districts stated that 70 per cent of them were still involved in unskilled work. "Even amenities from government like TV, cycle, mixie/grinder, fan and laptop are yet to reach them," said Vijayalakshmi Loganathan, a scholar in the Department of Social Work at Loyola College, who was part of the study.
